Losing that stubborn baby fat doesn’t have to be complicated or hard…
If you’re like some of my clients that have had kids you probably have had trouble getting rid of that belly fat left from pregnancy. My clients had problems with sticking to their nutrition plan, getting to the gym, and did not have the knowledge for an effective exercise plan. Below, I’m going to share with you the solutions that worked with my clients.
In a nutshell:
- Follow a nutrition plan that’s low maintenance
- Keep a pair of adjustable weights at home
- Don’t burn yourself out with cardio

Follow a nutrition plan that’s low maintenance
In the fitness industry there’s an abundance of recipe and diet information out there, lots of creative but complex ways to eat. This is bad if you’re just getting into the process of achieving that fit body. Over complication can and will frustrate the motivation out of you. So keep it simple, select a few healthy foods you enjoy to eat, make sure they fit your macro nutrient needs, and cook enough for multiple meals at a time (let’s be honest here, you’re busy and have no time to be cooking one meal at a time). Foods that you can bake and steam are the most flexible when it come to managing time, just toss the food in the oven or pot and wait foe the timer to go off.
Keep a pair of adjustable weight at home
You’re a busy mom, you have to be flexible when it comes to getting your workouts in. There will be times when getting to the gym is not manageable which is why I suggest you invest in a pair of adjustable free weights and workout at home. You can get them at Meijer’s, Walmart, Dicks, and Play It Again Sports for about $20. Additional weights would cost about $1 a pound. Another advantage of that would be your kid(s) might learn and pick up a good habit of working out when they get older, lead by example.
Don’t burn yourself out with cardio
Does anyone know why they do cardio? If you were to select a random person in the gym and ask them why they are trotting on the treadmill, they would most likely respond with some form of “to burn calories”. Cardio is one of the least effective ways to burn off that post pregnancy fat. You would have to workout for hours and hours just to drop a pound if you’re eating at maintenance calories. Re-frame your weight loss strategy if that is what you have been doing. Focus on building your metabolism and let your body do the work for you.
