Peloton is originally known for their fitness equipment, most commonly the Peloton Bike. One of the biggest perks Peloton offers to supplement their equipment are the many (and I mean MANY) online classes. This article will help you decide which of these many classes are best for weight loss.
How does one choose which class to take advantage of? I’m going to answer this question by giving my number one pick for each of these categories; bike, treadmill, and one class that does not use either the bike or treadmill.
Now, I want to preface this by saying a weight loss plan should vary depending on the individual. I would not blindly recommend these classes to everyone.
Tabata Ride – Bike
The great thing about using a bike for fitness is that it is low impact, meaning the exercise does not put as much stress on the joints as running, jumping, or jogging would. Low impact exercise is exactly how I would start someone off if they were overweight and looking to get into shape.

Also, because of the low impact, you can take advantage of doing high intensity training which, in short, will allow your body to burn more fat throughout the day even when you’re not exercising. This is exactly why I would suggest Tabata Ride.
Imagine hopping on the bike, starting the class, cranking through intervals of 20 seconds high intensity then 10 seconds of rest, and then BOOM after 10 – 30 minutes you’re all finished. All you have to do now is enjoy your day as you reap the fat burning benefits you worked hard for.
Hills Run – Treadmill
Running on the treadmill (“dreadmill” is what I typically call it) is usually the go to for many people looking to lose weight. What people are not aware of is that running on the ‘mill at no incline can overtime lead to muscle imbalances and injuries.

The Hills Run class helps prevent this by having you run at various inclines (hills) which have you engage different muscles giving you a more well-rounded workout. Similar to the Tabata Ride class I went over above, there will also be times of high intensity and low intensity during your 10-45 minute run.
Bodyweight Strength
Surprisingly, Peloton offers classes that don’t involve any of their equipment which is great news for you because that means more variety. If you do strength training consistently for months, you will build muscle. More muscle equals more fat being used at rest. A key strategy for anyone looking to lose weight.
Why Body Weight Strength Is One Of The Best Peloton Classes For Weight Loss
During a bodyweight strength class, you will be doing a circuit style workout involving exercises such as lunges and pushups. The advantage of these classes is that body weight exercises will always be relevant no matter if you’re a beginner or have been training for years.
Final Thought
No matter what classes you choose to do, for it to be effective for weight loss, you must do it consistently and with good nutrition.
