When it comes to the daily hustle and making sure you’re providing your family the necessities, productivity is very important. One of the biggest factors that can impact your productivity is your mood. Having control over how you feel will make you an unstoppable force during the daily grind. The 5 steps I’m going to go over will create a “snowball” effect in how you feel which in return will help you be more productive throughout the day. So let’s start off with something you can do before tomorrow even starts.
- Go to sleep early – Yes, the best days start the day before. Sleep is priority when it comes to feeling energized. Not getting the sleep you need can make you feel grumpy and will make you want to snack on bad foods which just makes your day even less productive. You want to wake up early enough to go through your current routine plus an additional 30 minutes, I’ll explain later. Also make sure you don’t get too much sleep, research has shown that too much can have the opposite effect. Aim for the typical 7-8 hours of sleep, that doesn’t include when you’re just laying in bed.
- Make your bed – Many people, including me, probably don’t do this enough. It might seem minor but it’s important. Achieving small things can make you want to take on more, like a snowball effect.
- Hydrate and Caffeinate – What’s a good day without some caffeine? Exactly! Fact is caffeine is good for you in moderate amounts, just don’t overdue it and get all jittery. Every morning it’s a good idea to get re-hydrated, being de-hydrated will make you feel like you’re sluggish. Avoid sugary drinks, all they do is spike your blood sugar. As a response your body will try to balance it out leaving you feeling more tired than you were a hour ago.
- Hit the gym before the office – Rep your squats before you call the shots! Besides the many physical health benefits working out gives you, it can also help you mentally throughout the day. It’s a well known fact that people who workout are less likely to be stressed and overall feel better than those who don’t. Also, its another achievement that you knocked out further building your “snowball”. When you get to the office after a workout, you will feel vibrant and have more confidence walking tall and GSD!
- Eat light for your first meal – There is a misconception out there that your first meal should be your biggest, so that translates into people eating bigger bowls of cereal, oats, and all the other sugary breakfast foods. Again all this does is spike your blood sugar as I explained before. It takes energy for your body to break down all that food, which is why you feel bogged down after eating a big meal. Stick with something light like a fruit and a handful of almonds.
Follow these steps and you will no doubt show up to the office ready to conquer the day.
